We recommend you familiarise yourself with WAC’s vision, history, its statutes and codes of ethics before registering.
Please note that ‘recurring payment’ refers to an automatically recurring payment. If you select one of these options below, your membership will automatically renew on the 1st of January after your last year of membership. A ‘non-recurring payment’ will expire on the date listed in your welcome email, and your membership will need to be manually renewed.

Rate A countries include: Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, USA and Western Europe*.
*Western Europe countries as defined by WAC are Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom.
If your country of residence is not listed above, you are eligible for the Rate B reduced membership rate (membership options below).

Membership Benefits
Upon paying the membership fee, WAC members are entitled to the following:
- Electronic access three issues per membership year of the WAC journal Archaeologies (and also complimentary paper copies of the journal if you are under the membership category “paper and electronic access to the journal”).
- Eligibility to apply for WAC grants and awards, including travel grants to WAC Congresses and Inter-Congresses.
- Reduced price of registration at World Archaeological Congresses and Inter-Congresses.
- Invitations to WAC social events.
- Receipt of occasional WAC e-newsletters.
- Subscription to the WAC mailing list with the opportunity to contribute to discussions and the right to promote events.
- The right to stand for election as a member of the WAC Executive and Council.
- Eligibility to be a member of a WAC Standing Committee. Committees include Archaeologists Without Borders; Awards; Ethics; Students; Repatriation; and Public Education.

Members can join WAC or renew their membership using the form below. Your credit card payment is SECURE using PayPal’s SSL. All payments are handled externally and no payment information is stored by WAC. All prices are in United States dollars.

The membership options are based on:
- Your location. WAC has two membership rates, depending on your country of residence:
- Rate A: Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, USA and Western Europe*.
- *Western Europe countries as defined by WAC are Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom.
- Rate B: All countries not listed in Rate A.
- Rate A: Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, USA and Western Europe*.
- Your career/education status (either professional, student, or retiree).
- Duration of your membership (either one year, four years or lifetime).
- Delivery of the journal (either paper AND electronic access; or electronic access ONLY).
- Automatic or manual renewal (either automatic (recurring) or manual (non-recurring) renewal – recurring payments only available for one-year memberships)
Donations
We also invite individuals and organisations to sponsor the membership of people or institutions from economically disadvantaged countries. Please contact the Membership Secretary for further information or donate below.
Confirmation
Please note the membership confirmation system is now automated. Upon registering, you will receive three confirmation emails:
- The first confirming your payment from PayPal (immediately after the payment).
- The second from our gmail account (wac.membership@googlemail.com) asking you to set your password for your WAC member profile on this site, with the subject: [World Archaeological Congress Sites] Welcome to your WAC profile.
- The third from our gmail account (wac.membership@googlemail.com) welcoming you to the new system, with the subject: Your membership confirmation for World Archaeological Congress. This email contains details about your new profile, including how to access the journal.
