The University of Massachusetts Amherst seeks to hire a Director of Archaeological Services under a faculty, non-tenure track appointment. Under the direction of the Department of Anthropology, the Director of UMAS serves as the Principal Investigator for contracts and grants awarded by outside sponsors in the area of cultural resource management and historic preservation. The Director’s leadership responsibilities include articulating and implementing a vision for the organization within the department, maintaining a high profile for UMAS on the campus, and articulating the mission of UMAS with external clients and state agencies. A PhD in anthropology, archaeology, or closely related field is required by time of appointment. A minimum of five years of supervisory and administrative experience in the field of Cultural Resource Management is required.
