About the Hub
Shesrig Ladakh is proud to host the official India Hub for the 10th World Archaeological Congress (WAC-10). This initiative will connect local students and scholars to a worldwide network of archaeological and conservation research, heritage dialogue, and academic collaboration through live-streamed sessions and a range of on-campus activities.

Location: Shesrig Conservation Studio, Leh-Ladakh
Format: Livestreamed and recorded sessions followed by interactive discussions and local engagement activities

Hub Activities
- Conservation Dialogues: Engage with experienced conservators in open discussions on current conservation practices, challenges, and limitations in the field of heritage preservation, with a special focus on Himalayan and Ladakhi contexts.
- Local Artisans Showcase: Traditional artists, including thangka painters, metal craftsmen, and woodworkers, to exhibit their work, share their techniques, and engage in conversations about the continuity of indigenous art forms.
- Cultural Auction & Sale: Curated sale and auction of locally made artworks and crafts, offering a platform for artisans to gain visibility and financial support while promoting sustainable heritage-based livelihoods.
- Student Networking and Mentorship: Meet-ups and mentorship circles between young scholars and senior archaeologists through hybrid sessions, encouraging academic exchange and career guidance.
- Film Screening: Screenings of documentaries on regional archaeology and cultural heritage, that explore local historic landscapes.
Statement by the Hub Convenor
It is an honour to convene the WAC-10 Global Hub in India through Shesrig Ladakh. This platform offers a unique opportunity to amplify local perspectives within global archaeological dialogues and to empower emerging scholars in building a more inclusive and representative future for heritage studies.
