Travel Grants Program

The travel grants program for WAC-10 is a practical way to further WAC’s commitment of Indigenous control over Indigenous cultural heritage and to redressing global inequities.

Travel grant applications closed on 31 January.  Recommendations were made by the Travel Grants Committee, based on the points derived from the criteria in the table below.

We received around 1,000 applications from 45 countries, in addition to applications from members of Indigenous nations. However, our funds are limited and we were only able to fund a portion.

50 applicants were awarded $500 AUD cash towards their airfares as well as accommodation on a shared basis and Congress registration.

400 applicants were awarded accommodation on a shared basis and Congress registration.

100 applicants were awarded Congress registration only.

In addition, 200+ Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait people are being sponsored for in-person participation at WAC-10.

We continue to seek support for WAC’s vision of a fairer, more equitable global archaeology.
