“Our Poster reflects World Archaeology with an emphasis on one of the pillars of the discipline, excavations. Handtrowel and tapes are essential equipment, the trowel in this case is pointing to Darwin, Australia, venue of the 10th World Archaeological Congress.

“In the poster, archaeologists were seen working at a site in Pompeii, each of them being meticulous, not to lose vital data. The poster reflects who we are as Archaeologists and the fact that the attention is on Darwin, Australia.

“The poster underscores the core value of teamwork, tolerance and thoroughness.”

Kola and Kayode

Kola Adekola is a Nigerian archaeologist at the Department of Archaeology and Anthropology, University of Ibadan, Nigeria’s premier university where he had all his degrees. He is currently on a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Cyprus Institute, Nicosia.

Dr. Adekola is an active member of the World Archaeological Congress (WAC) since 2006 and currently the Junior Representative for Western Africa on the Council of WAC. Between June 2016 and July 2018, He was an Executive Member of the Society of Africanists Archaeologists (SAFA) as Member at Large 1 for Africa.

He was a Visiting Scholar to the Center for African Studies, University of Florida, Gainesville, USA, January 30 to February, 27, 2015. In 2022, between January and February, Dr. Adekola was a Visiting Professor to the Archaeo-Anthropology Laboratories of the Centre for Archaeological Research, Ancient and Medieval History (CRAHAM), Universite de Caen, Normandie, France.

He has presented papers on Archaeology, Cultural Landscapes, Heritage Management, and Archaeological Theories and Methods in such places as Dublin-Ireland (WAC 6-2008); Dakar-Senegal (SAFA-2010); Dead-Sea-Jordan (WAC7-2013); Gainesville, Florida-USA (2015); Tampa, Florida-USA (2015); Toulouse-France (SAFA-2016); Accra-Ghana (WAAA-2019); Nairobi-Kenya (2023) and Norwwich-UK (TAG-2023).

Adekola is on a Postdoctoral Fellowship at STAR-C Cyprus Institute, Nicosia Cyprus and the University of Cambridge, UK.

Kayode Ogunremi is a Graduate of Archaeology from the Department of Archaeology and Anthropology, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He completed his first degree in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science Degree Certificate.

Ogunremi who is currently pursuing a Postgraduate Diplome in Criminology at Lead City University, Ibadan is equally a Creative Designer and Website Developer. A volunteer with One African Child, Kayode has multiple skill sets including Graphic Design, Logo design, and 3D Mock up artist amongst others. He is hoping to return to archaeology to study Forensic Science for his Master’s Degree
