WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW WHEN YOU ARRIVE IN CAPE TOWN
On arrival in Cape Town
We will have representatives at Cape Town International Airport on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 January 1999. Please look out for them on arrival – they will be able to assist you regarding your transport, baggage, etc.
If you are arriving before Saturday 9 January or after Sunday 10 January and have booked an airport transfer, you will be met personally at the airport. Please look out for our representative who will display your name prominently. If you are making your own transfer arrangements, and need to contact us when you arrive, please telephone Odette de Heer Kloots on Tel.: 762-8600.

Security
Cape Town, like any other large city in the world, does have an element of crime. Please be careful with any cameras, jewellery, etc. that you may have on you when walking in the street. It is not advisable to wear your conference badges outside the conference venue if you are not on an official conference outing. Also, please try not to walk around outside after dark.
Traveller’s Cheques
South African banks accept traveller’s cheques in major international currencies during normal banking hours. Currency exchange for such traveller’s cheques will be available at the conference. Please note that not many shops and restaurants accept traveller’s cheques.
Malaria
Cape Town is not a Malaria area. However, if you intend travelling in the Northern part of the country, it is advisable to consult with your travel agent as to whether it is necessary to take Malaria medication or not.
