The 8th World Archaeological Congress (WAC-8) will take place at Doshisha University’s Imadegawa Campus in Kyoto from the 28th of August to the 2nd of September 2016. WAC is the largest world-wide body of practicing archaeologists, and holds an international congress every four years to discuss the conservation of cultural heritage sites in all countries as well as the results of archaeological research.
About 1500 participants from 70 countries in Asia, Latin America, Africa and Western nations are expected to attend this conference. WAC has a special interest in protecting the cultural heritage of indigenous people, minorities and economically disadvantaged countries, and provides economic support for participants from such countries. During the conference, participants will discuss ways to protect cultural heritage from wars and disasters, and to utilize it in the future.
This is the first time that the main WAC conference will be held in Japan and we are planning to host events for the general public during the conference, such as the lectures on archaeology and cultural heritage, and exhibitions that integrate art and archaeology.
We appreciate any donations that will ensure the success of WAC-8 and support us in our goals.
