Academic Excellence<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Prity\u2019s academic journey began at Banaras Hindu University<\/strong>, one of India’s most prestigious institutions. She earned both her Bachelor’s<\/strong> and Master’s degrees<\/strong> in Ancient Indian History, Culture, and Archaeology,\u00a0and recently she got selected in the PhD programme of\u00a0 the same Institute.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Theory meets terrain in Prity\u2019s commitment to on-ground archaeology. She has actively participated in the New Rajgir Excavation<\/strong>, working under the guidance of expert archaeologists and scholars. Her co-authored paper, \u201cWomen of Early Medieval Kashmir,\u201d<\/strong> not only explores the social role of women in a critical historical context but also won Third Position<\/strong> in the Best Paper by Young Researcher<\/em> category at the Itihas Saptah 3.0 International Webinar, 2023<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another acclaimed publication, \u201cArt Expressions through Rock Art and Tattoo Culture in the Easternmost Kaimur Range, India,\u201d<\/strong> was featured in the SAARC Art Magazine (Issue 7, 2024)<\/strong> by the SAARC Cultural Centre, Sri Lanka<\/strong>. Prity presented her paper, \u201cMarkets as Shown in the Silappadikaram,\u201d<\/strong> at the 16th Annual Workshop on South Asian Archaeology<\/strong>, sponsored by Hartwick College<\/strong> and the University of Chicago<\/strong>\u2014an event that celebrates cutting-edge research in the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Media Recognition<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Prity\u2019s work has not remained confined to academic circles. Her groundbreaking research on tribal tattoo culture<\/strong> caught the attention of major Indian media outlets. ETV Bharat<\/strong> and Amar Ujala<\/strong> published feature stories on her work, highlighting its relevance in understanding tribal traditions and gender norms. The articles revealed fascinating insights such as societal taboos and rituals tied to tattooing practices\u2014such as the cultural belief that food cooked by unmarked women was once considered impure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These stories are widely circulated and have added a strong public outreach component to her scholarly profile, helping to bridge the gap between academia and society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
