{"id":77,"date":"2023-10-15T22:57:45","date_gmt":"2023-10-15T22:57:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldarchaeologicalcongress.com\/wac10\/?page_id=77"},"modified":"2025-04-05T00:00:05","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T00:00:05","slug":"travel-support","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/worldarchaeologicalcongress.com\/wac10\/travel-support\/","title":{"rendered":"Travel Support"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Applications closed 31 January, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Travel Grants Program<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The travel grants program for WAC-10 is a practical way to further WAC\u2019s commitment of Indigenous control over Indigenous cultural heritage and to redressing global inequities.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Travel grant applications closed on 31 January.&nbsp;&nbsp;Recommendations were made by the Travel Grants Committee, based on the points derived from the criteria in the table below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We received around 1,000 applications from 45 countries, in addition to applications from members of Indigenous nations. However, our funds are limited and we were only able to fund a portion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>50 applicants were awarded $500 AUD cash towards their airfares as well as accommodation on a shared basis and Congress registration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>400 applicants were awarded accommodation on a shared basis and Congress registration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>100 applicants were awarded Congress registration only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, 200+ Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait people are being sponsored for in-person participation at WAC-10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We continue to seek support for WAC\u2019s vision of a fairer, more equitable global archaeology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WAC is a member organisation and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/worldarchaeologicalcongress.com\/join-wac\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WAC membership<\/a> is required to accept a travel grant from WAC-10.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People awarded a grant to attend WAC-10 in person need to join WAC for 4 years to take up their award. For people from low exchange rate countries, the membership fee is $50 USD for students and $90 USD for others.&nbsp; This includes an online access to <em>Archaeologies. Journal of the World Archaeological Congress.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People who are awarded a grant to cover their online participation in WAC-10 need to join WAC for 1 year to take up their award. The rate to join is $15 USD for students and retired, and $25 USD for others. .&nbsp; This includes an online access to <em>Archaeologies. Journal of the World Archaeological Congress.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People awarded a travel\u00a0 by WAC-10 should note that <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/worldarchaeologicalcongress.com\/join-wac\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">joining WAC<\/a> <\/strong>for 4 years is a requirement of accepting in-person sponsorship and joining WAC for 1 year is a requirement of accepting sponsorship for online participation. For people from low exchange rate countries one year\u2019s membership costs $15 USD for students and retired people, and $25 USD for others. The rate for four year\u2019s membership is $50 USD for students and $90 USD for others from low exchange rate countries. Membership includes online access to <em>Archaeologies.
