The travel grants program for WAC-10 is a practical way to further WAC\u2019s commitment of Indigenous control over Indigenous cultural heritage and to redressing global inequities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Travel grant applications closed on 31 January. Recommendations were made by the Travel Grants Committee, based on the points derived from the criteria in the table below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We received around 1,000 applications from 45 countries, in addition to applications from members of Indigenous nations. However, our funds are limited and we were only able to fund a portion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
50 applicants were awarded $500 AUD cash towards their airfares as well as accommodation on a shared basis and Congress registration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
400 applicants were awarded accommodation on a shared basis and Congress registration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
100 applicants were awarded Congress registration only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition, 200+ Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait people are being sponsored for in-person participation at WAC-10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We continue to seek support for WAC\u2019s vision of a fairer, more equitable global archaeology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
WAC is a member organisation and WAC membership<\/a> is required to accept a travel grant from WAC-10.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n People awarded a grant to attend WAC-10 in person need to join WAC for 4 years to take up their award. For people from low exchange rate countries, the membership fee is $50 USD for students and $90 USD for others. This includes an online access to Archaeologies. Journal of the World Archaeological Congress.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n People who are awarded a grant to cover their online participation in WAC-10 need to join WAC for 1 year to take up their award.
