Call for Student Participants in WAC-8 Ethics Debate

Dear all,

We would like to invite applications for participating in the 8th World Archaeological Congress’ Ethics Debate in Kyoto, Japan. This competition is a conference tradition where participants come together to debate on cutting-edge ethical issues in archaeology and heritage management. The Ethics Debate is scheduled to take place during the conference and the teams are intended to reflect WAC’s mission to promote international dialogue.

The potential case studies will discuss ethical dilemmas in contemporary archaeology and heritage related practices. These case studies raise issues of ethical confrontation among various stakeholders. Each preliminary round will last for one hour. The final round will take place between the runner-up teams and will last two hours. Appreciation certificates will be issued for all participants and members of the runner-up teams will be additionally awarded by WAC.

On behalf of the student committee of WAC, we also encourage you all to bring to our attention case studies/topics that you find engaging and requiring discussion. Please send us an email with an expression of interest to participate; we would also appreciate a few lines about your professional commitments to archaeology. Please write to us at, wacstudentcommittee@gmail.com

Best regards,

WACSC
