At WAC-6, the WAC Student Committee took the initiative in organising the WAC Student Paper/Poster Prizes.  The Prizes, to be awarded to the best paper/poster presented by a student at each Congress (every 4 years), were intended to showcase original student research as an integral part of WAC and the future of the discipline of archaeology.  After a thorough examination of the nominated papers/posters, the WAC Student Committee is pleased to announce that the Prizes have been awarded to the following students.

[Student Paper Prize winner] Kathryn Lafrenz Samuels: “Trajectories of Value: International Heritage Management of Archaeology for the Reduction of Poverty”

[Student Poster Prize winner] Mathew Coller: “SahulTime: Rethinking Archaeological Representation in the Digital Age”

The runner-ups are:

[Student Paper Prize runner-up] Jennifer Rodrigues: “The 1993 Historic Shipwrecks Amnesty in Australia: A Preliminary Assessment of Its Effectiveness and Implications”

[Student Poster Prize runner-up] Shibutani Ayako: “Late Pleistocene to Early Holocene Plant Movements in Southern Kyushu, Japan”

Congratulations to Kathryn Lafrenz Samuels, Mathew Coller, Jennifer Rodrigues, and Shibutani Ayako on the excellent quality of their studies, which were presented in clear and convincing manners!
