Inaugural Lecture titled “Interrogating the Evidence: The Nigerian Cultural Landscape” was delivered at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria on 25 October 2007. The highlights of the lecture were discussions on the state of archaeology as a discipline in Nigeria, archaeological investigations, the nature of archaeological evidence and the description of the Nigerian Cultural Landscape. The archaeological evidence in the Benue valley as relates to population movement and at Ijaye Orile as relates to industrial activities were reviewed using ethnoarchaeological methods. The lecture was followed with a reception at the Dean’s Office, Faculty of Science and another reception at home of Bayo Folorunso.
